American Revolution.

"Listen, my children, and you shall hear

Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,

On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-Five:

Hardly a man is now alive

Who remembers that famous day and year."

-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

My 7th great-grandfather Miles Powell definitely remembered that famous day. Miles Powell commanded minutemen at the Lexington Alarm on April 19th, 1775 (245 years ago today!). He then became the lieutenant colonel for the Second Berkshire County Regiment. He served in the battles of Bennington and Ticonderoga. Some records say he was born in Wallingford, Connecticut, where my mom grew up for the first few years. While records of exactly where he was born may be conflicting, he definitely served a big role in fighting for the America we know and love today.
